2022 Water Plan Grant Request Overview

Thank you for nearly a year of support as the planning team continues to promote the Colorado ASO (CASO) program statewide. Our efforts this year have culminated in a Water Plan Grant application to be reviewed by the CWCB.

We need your letters of support! If your agency would like to provide a letter of support, please reach out to the project team and we will get you the info you need.

This grant request is possible due to the matching funding provided by Northern Water, Denver Water, the USGS and the US Department of Energy. Between the matching and requested funds we plan to conduct:

• 14 Snow-On Flights

• 15,000sqkm of Snow-Free Basin Preparation

• WRF-Hydro Development for all areas with snow measurements

• Development of a flight planning steering committee with representatives from all basins

• Ongoing Program Coordination and Decision-Making Support

Below is the aspirational schedule of activities, since snow measurement flights are dependent on the weather.

This is just year 1 of CASO and, with good funding in the first year, we can carry it forward and grow the program.
